Who Are We: The Dodson’s. We consist of a husband (Justin) and wife (Jenna), and our newest baby girl (Aria).
What Do We Do: We are preparing to be missionaries with WorldVenture where we will be working with a program called Journey Corps. In addition to that, Justin will play a part in the leadership training of nationals, and Jenna in meeting some of the health care needs of the people. (For more details click here and here)
Where Are We Going: We are going to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa, where there are currently 34 unreached people groups. We will primarily be working with the Jula people in the North, who spread across 5 countries in West Africa. Of the nearly 21 million people living there, more than 30 percent are of foreign origin. Côte d’Ivoire is home to at least 70 languages. The expanding Sahara, tribal conflicts, political upheavals, and the sway of Islam along with the spread of AIDS have left the peoples of West Africa economically and spiritually impoverished.
When/How Long Are We Going: We are leaving as soon as God provides the necessary Prayer and Financial Support, as 100% needs to be raised before leaving. As for how long, well, it will have to be as clear to come back as it was to go. So there is no timetable set, we just plan to go until we are told to go somewhere else. (For more details click here)
Why Are We Going: There is a dire need to equip the next generation of Christian leaders for the Mission of God. Thus, we seek to equip the American and Ivorian Churches for mission by partnering together with one another so as to further God’s saving purposes in the world. The church in Cote d’Ivoire needs workers trained to present the gospel in ways that spark the peoples’ interest and feed their physical and spiritual hungers.
